SACRED SITES OF SOUTHERN INDIA:
the journey of a lifetime

* with Hareesh and Briala *

Back by popular demand, the Sacred India Tour is a 12-day journey unlike any other you've experienced. We visit incredible temples and sacred sites of Yoga and of Shaivism while engaging in deep practice and contemplation of spiritual teachings.

This time our destination is Karnātaka, the spiritual heartland of yoga. Trip-leader Hareesh (Christopher Wallis) will be your guide to these sacred sites and their teachings, while experienced vinyāsa flow yoga teacher Briala Silva will enliven your body and senses with daily practice.

EVERYTHING is taken care of for you and the price is all-inclusive (except flight and tips). We stay in luxurious hotels with a traditional flair, because why skimp on what might be the greatest pilgrimage of your life?!

Join us on this adventure as we visit some of the most powerful sacred sites of South India (Hampi, Belur, Halebid, Badami, and more), and explore the ancient Tantrik philosophy right where it flourished over a thousand years ago, woven together with daily āsana practice and guided meditation. We will also visit the birthplace of modern postural yoga, the Mysore Palace. This retreat is for devoted practitioners on the yogic journey and will doubtless be the experience of a lifetime.

When traveling to India do I need a visa?
You do need a visa; apply early, though it the process is becoming easier every year. Find out all of the instructions here. There is an option for US citizens to obtain a visa on arrival but that still means you need to meet the 7 points of eligibility and submit the online forms well in advance. You can see all the details and fill in the online forms here if you want to go with that option rather than obtaining a visa in advance. https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html

Are there required or recommended vaccines?
Vaccines are not required but if you want to find out about recommendations then you're welcome to visit your Doctor or a travel clinic. We won't be in a malaria affected area on this tour but you may want to bring malaria pills with you just in case.

Flights?
You will book your own flight with a travel agent or online. You will be flying in to ARRIVE in Bangalore on December 26 or 27, 2016. You are welcome to arrive earlier but your first night of included accommodation will be on December 27, 2016. Your final night of included accommodations is January 6, 2017 in Badami. The coach will then return to Bangalore with some of the group; others will take off on solo journeys. The nearest major airport to Badami is Hubli Airport (HBX/VOHB), 69 miles away. The nearest international airport is located in Goa, 177 miles from Badami. We'll help you arrange a private car with driver to the airport for your connecting flights if you wish.

*Keep in mind that many flights arrive in India in the middle of the night. For example, if you arrive at 12:30am December 27th, remember that your room won't be ready until around 3pm in the afternoon on the 27th, usual check in time. Some people may want to book an extra night or two and I'll be sending out more details about our first hotel once I hear back from our coordinators in India so that you can do so.

How much money should I bring with me?
Since your basic costs are already covered consider what you want to bring for tipping, any extra excursions you plan to go on, airport transfers, and shopping.

I'd like to connect with others on this trip beforehand. How can I do that?
